Cauley, Finau Co-Lead at Valero Texas Open After 36 Holes

Bud Cauley followed up his opening-round 70 with a sizzling 66 on Friday to take the early clubhouse lead at the Valero Texas Open at 8-under. Hours later, Tony Finau posted a second-round 65 to tie Cauley at -8.

The co-leaders are one-up on the trio of Cameron Smith, Kevin Chappell, and (1994 Valero champ) Bob Estes who are tied for 3rd at 7-under.

“I scrambled really well,” Cauley said after getting up and down nine times in the first two days and making just one bogey in 36 holes. “I didn’t drive it poorly but, you know, just with the wind out there it was tough to get some of the iron shots close. When I did miss the green I was able to leave it in a relatively easy spot and get up and down which kind of kept my round going.”
